Practice Philosophy

We welcome a variety of musculoskeletal injuries in our clinic whether sports related, accident related, or due to aging.  Not all injuries require surgery, and in fact the majority of treatment plans are non-operative. Our job is to explain which diseases have good conservative options and which ones may be better treated surgically.

At the minimum, we want to help the patient and their families understand the underlying condition that brought the patient in for the visit. We always take time to explain the anatomy and the natural history of the disease followed by an outline of the appropriate treatment options.

Our ultimate goal is to educate each patient well enough to enable him/her to choose the right treatment option for the current musculoskeletal problem. Even though surgery may be the best option for one person’s condition does not always mean that surgery is the right choice for every patient with that condition. There are complexities to each individual case which affects surgery vs. conservative recommendations. There are always risks, benefits, and alternatives to every surgery, and we customize our recommendations based on the balance of these factors for each individual patient.
